Nansen Network
Nansen Dialogue Centre - Montenegro is a member of large network of centres entitled ”Balkans Dialogue Project”, also including offices in Belgrade, Skopje, Banja Luka, Mostar, Sarajevo, Osijek and in Kosovo. The “Balkan Dialogue Project” was launched at the Nansen Academy in Lillehammer. In the mid nineties, this school organised a series of 12-week courses, named ”Democracy, human rights and peaceful conflict resolution”, the attendees of which were young people from the territory of former Yugoslavia. The objective of this specialised programme was to educate the trainees through enabling them to actively take part in initiatives for peace, in processes of consolidation and revitalisation of societies destroyed by war conflicts and rebuilding of civil societies. A more ambitious stage followed, focusing on the immediate involvement of people who finished successfully the training in Lilehamer (or their home locations), and, thanks to joint efforts with PRIO – Institute of Peace Research from Oslo, resulted in the foundation of regional centres, NDC offices, starting with the first office in Pristina in 1997. |
